MODOT marked the occasion of its collaboration with UMKC Red Cone by hosting a ribbon-cutting at Route F and US50 in Jackson County. Both Katie Horner (student project manager) and Dean Kevin Truman delivered remarks at the event. It was well-attended with students from the design groups, representatives of elected officials, and MODOT personnel.
Red Cone Civil Design completes location studies and 30-50% construction drawings for small projects sponsored by municipalities or other public entities in the Kansas City area. The designers are students in the civil engineering capstone class at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. The designs are supervised by practicing engineers and licensed faculty.
